Arizona shifts focus to 2019 recruiting class

The Wildcats have been handing out tons of offers lately

Now that the 2018 cycle is completed, the Arizona Wildcats can turn their full attention to the 2019 recruiting class.

Offers are continuing to pour out, and we’ll take a look at the recent offers that have gone out below.

Faatui Tuitele, DT, 5-star

We’ll start with the big one, literally. The 5-star defensive lineman from Honolulu is already over 30 offers and will only get more. Clemson, Oregon, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, and Notre Dame are just some of the schools that have offered.

Tuitele recently set up visits to Ohio State, Alabama, and LSU for the spring. I would expect more visits for him as well. As of now the Crimson Tide and Buckeyes have yet to offer but I’d expect him to pick those up during his visits.

Tuitele is from the same high school as Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He recently told 247Sports that his former teammates’ performance during the national championship game is what gave him interest in the Tide. No matter how you slice it, it will be a tough pull for Arizona.

Elijah Higgins, WR, 4-star

Moving on we find the Austin, TX receiver standout. The 4-star Bowie High School product’s recruitment is one I don’t see ending in Tucson...at least as of right now. He took a trip to Texas’ campus this past weekend and by all indications it went well.

There is still time in his recruitment, however, and Arizona should have its opportunity to make an impression on him if it can get him on campus.

Mycah Pittman, WR, 4-star

This is another offer I’ve been waiting for the staff to make. Noel Mazzone actually FaceTimed Pittman Friday morning and offered him. He is a 4-star receiver from Calabasas High School and that’s a school Arizona has had success recruiting. It has given the ‘Cats safety Isaiah Hayes, receiver transfer Keyshawn Johnson Jr., new defensive end Nahe Sulunga, and freshman defensive tackle Mykee Irving.

Pittman has a brother that plays at USC so that is possibly something to watch. As we know with recruiting that doesn’t necessarily mean that he will play for the Trojans. He holds offers from all over the country to include Ohio State, Michigan, Texas A&M, Oregon, and California to name a few. This is one I think the ‘Cats have an actual shot at even though there is some stiff competition.

Austin McNamara, P, 5-star

It is clear that the new staff in Tucson is placing an emphasis on special teams, and this offer proves as much. McNamara, from Highland High School in Gilbert, is one of the best punters in the country. Both Chris Sailer Kicking and Kohl’s Kicking Camps rank him as a 5-star punter. Sailer has him as the third ranked punter in the nation while Kohl’s has him at fourth.

Arizona is McNamara’s first full ride scholarship offer and, to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more in the future. Through two years of punting at Highland, he is averaging 39.2 yards per punt with 22 inside the 20-yard line and a long of 74 yards. He averaged 38.3 yards per punt as a sophomore and 39.7 as a junior.

Nelson Ceaser, DE, 4-star

Moving to the defensive line we find Nelson Ceaser, a 6-foot-4 210 pound end from Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas. Ceaser has 11 offers as of now but will have plenty more by the time everything is said and done. Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech, Indiana, and Iowa State are some of the other schools joining UA on his list.

Ceaser is an interesting prospect. He has the frame to add a ton of good weight but I like him as a defensive end/stud type player, much like Kylan Wilborn. He has the explosiveness and speed needed for stud backer and would be a great fit at the position in my opinion. I will be looking to get in contact with him in the near future.

Logan Wilson, CB, 3-star

Wilson, a 3-star corner from Bishop Dunne High School in Dallas, Texas, landed his offer last Tuesday and it was a big one for him. I spoke with him over the weekend and he stated that Arizona was his dream school growing up. He is also planning on visiting Tucson in April.

Wilson is up to six offers with Iowa being his most recent. UTSA, New Mexico, and Jackson State, round out his offer list. I like what Wilson brings to the defensive backfield. He does need to add a little weight but his vision and ability to direct a play and react is impressive. This is a recruitment I’d keep a really close eye on.

Brayden Liebrock, TE, 3-star

Liebrock is a 6-foot-5 220 pound prospect out of Chandler High School. Now Chandler has not been known to send a ton of prospects to Tucson but he is too talented for UA not to try.

Liebrock is quite an impressive player. He is deceptively fast for someone his size and he runs solid routes. His hands are one of the biggest things that stand out about his game. He’s shown an ability to use his long arms and great hands to snag in some really impressive catches. Whats more, he doesn’t break stride, allowing him to rack up yards after the catch.

So far multiple Power Five programs have taken notice of Liebrock’s talents. Arizona State, California, Iowa State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame are some of the programs joining UA on his offer list. This is another player I plan on reaching out to here in the near future.

Jayvaun Wilson, ATH, 3-star

Now for the most recent offeree. Wilson is a high 3-star prospect from Valencia High School in Valencia, California. That is the same high school as big Arizona cornerback target MyKael Wright. Now, Wright can play an assortment of positions to include running back, cornerback, and safety. And he is explosive at all positions. The speed he has for 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds is, quite honestly, ridiculous. Me describing his game doesn’t do it justice so you can find his junior highlights here.

UA became Wilson’s eighth offer, joining Washington, Oregon, Arizona State, California, and Oregon State. Wilson will be taking an unofficial to Tucson this weekend with his Premium 7v7 team. This visit will be major for the staff to make a play with some big-time Southern California players.
