Arizona to face Purdue in Foster Farms Bowl

The Wildcats are headed to Santa Clara

The Arizona Wildcats will be taking on the Purdue Boilermakers in the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., it was announced Sunday.

The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MST on Wednesday, Dec. 27. It will be televised on FOX. Levi’s Stadium is the home of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers.

Purdue went 6-6 this season and 4-5 in the Big Ten, good for fourth place in the West division. This is Arizona’s first time playing a Big Ten team in a bowl game.

Arizona is 0-2 all-time against the Boilermakers with the last matchup coming in 2005 when the Wildcats lost to No. 12 Purdue 31-24 in Tucson.

Purdue is the No. 41 team in the S&P+ ratings, while Arizona is No. 49. Those ratings peg the Boilermakers to have the No. 73 offense in the country, No. 28 defense, and No. 83 special teams.

The Wildcats have the No. 9 offense, No. 114 defense, and No. 95 special teams.

Most believed Arizona was going to be playing in the Las Vegas Bowl, but that was likely nixed when the Washington Huskies fell 11th in the College Football Playoff standings, allowing them to play in a New Year’s Six bowl and subsequently moving the Wildcats up the Pac-12 bowl tie-in list.

The entire bowl schedule can be found here.
