Allonzo Trier (knee) day-to-day with bone bruise, per report

Bullet dodged

It appears the Arizona Wildcats have dodged a major bullet.

Despite suffering a gruesome left knee injury Monday in Arizona’s win over North Dakota State, Allonzo Trier is reportedly day-to-day with a bone bruise, a source told ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

“Painful but good to go,” according to Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.

Arizona coach Sean Miller suspected after the game that Trier had suffered a bone bruise, but said the Wildcats would have to wait until Tuesday to find out for sure.

Trier banged knees with NDSU’s Paul Miller midway through the second half, and Trier writhed on the floor in obvious pain before trainers assisted him to the locker room.

However, Trier would later take a seat on the Wildcats’ bench with ice on his knee.

There has been no official word from the UA about the injury.

The Wildcats take on the UConn Huskies on Thursday at 7 p.m. MST to wrap up non-conference play. It is unclear if Trier will suit up.

After that, Arizona hosts No. 3 ASU on Dec. 30 to open Pac-12 play. If the reports are true and Trier is just day-to-day, it is hard to imagine he will miss that highly-anticipated game.

The junior is Arizona’s leading scorer this season, averaging 21.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He had 15 points on 5-8 shooting before exiting Monday’s game.
