Arizona vs. Oregon: Wildcats players of the game

These Wildcats stood out in UA’s loss to Oregon

It was not a good night for the Arizona Wildcats in Eugene against the Oregon Ducks, losing 48-28 on Saturday.

Khalil Tate didn't look like himself (though he did get rolled up on), the defense did not play well, and special teams were a complete mess.

But let’s look at which Wildcats were a bright spot.

Offense: Tony Ellison, WR

Stats vs. Oregon: 6 rec, 52 yds, 1 TD; 1 car, 4 yds, 0 TD

During a night that was, to say the least, disappointing for the Wildcat offense, Ellison was probably the unit’s best player. He did drop a pass on third down that he should’ve had but overall had a nice game. He was able to get separation and made a great fingertip grab to pick a ball up off the turf.

Defense: Colin Schooler, LB

Stats vs. Oregon: 12 tackles, 3.0 TFL

Schooler played out of his mind Saturday. He was the most consistent player on that side of the ball. It seemed like he was always at the line of scrimmage making plays and was in the backfield plenty of times.

The defense just wasn’t getting it done tonight but Schooler’s play was certainly a positive.

Special Teams: Tyrell Johnson, WR/KR

Arizona’s special teams were awful. The best punter was tight end Trevor Wood.

Johnson was the lone player who did something well. He was decent for the most part on kick returns until his stellar 62-yard return late in the fourth quarter. Johnson has been really good on kickoffs this year and continued that solid play Saturday.

Honorable Mention

Nick Wilson, RB: 17 carries, 73 yards, 2 TD — Wilson had a pretty good game considering everything else. He ran hard all night long and his two touchdowns were reminiscent of 2014.

Shun Brown, WR: 5 receptions, 48 yards, 0 TD; 1 carry, 3 yards, 0 TD — Brown had one dropped pass that he should’ve had. Other than that, he had a pretty Shun Brown-type of game.
