The former Arizona Wildcat has not coached Golden State since late April due to complications from back surgery, and his return is an encouraging sign for his health, considering his medical condition was once deemed to be career-threatening.
The Warriors have fared well in Kerr’s absence and are three wins from winning their second NBA title in three years.
Golden State went 11-0 in the postseason under interim head coach Mike Brown and holds a 1-0 series lead in the NBA Finals.
Kerr said he has been active in practices and film sessions, so his return won’t bring significant changes for the Warriors.
Game 2 of the NBA Finals is set for Sunday at 5 p.m. MST on ABC.

Kerr is one of six Arizona Wildcats participating in the NBA Finals as Andre Iguodala and Bruce Fraser are representing the Warriors and Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, and Derrick Williams are representing the Cavaliers.
