Archie Miller becomes Indiana’s new head coach

Sean’s brother lands that elite job

Sean Miller has always said that his brother Archie should hold out for an elite job.

Well, he’s done just that.

On Saturday, the Dayton Flyers head coach officially became the new head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers.

"I am honored to be the head coach at Indiana University," Archie said in a statement. "IU is one of the greatest basketball programs and academic institutions in the country and I cannot wait to get started. With peerless fan support, outstanding facilities and tradition, a beautiful campus, and located in one of the most fertile recruiting areas in the country, IU is a dream destination for me and my family. I cannot wait to connect with former players, current players, and future players and all of Hoosier Nation. I want to thank all of the great people and players at the University of Dayton who have supported me along the way. I look forward to outlining my vision for IU basketball and offering my sincerest appreciation for the great people at Dayton on Monday."

Archie coached with his older brother Sean at Arizona from 2009-11 after spending a couple years under Thad Matta at Ohio State.

In six years as the Dayton head coach, Archie put up a record of 139-63 (68-34 in the Atlantic 10) and reached each of the last four NCAA Tournaments. In 2014, the Flyers went to the Elite Eight, but have failed to make it out of the first weekend the past three years.

The two brothers are ten years apart in age. Archie is only 38, while Sean is 48 years old. But now both of them are in charge of some of the most recognizable brands in the sport.

Congrats to Archie, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll get some Arizona/Indiana showdowns in the near future.
