Sonoran Hot Reads: Paul Magloire slotted in fourth round of NFL mock draft

How far up can Magloire climb?

After having a successful week at the East-West Shrine Game, former Arizona Wildcats linebacker Paul Magloire Jr. is starting to get a bit more national recognition. Matt Miller of Bleacher Report put out a complete, seven-round mock draft, and has Magloire getting selected in the fourth round by the Cincinnati Bengals. It’ll be interesting to see if Magloire can be kind of like Will Parks and be an Arizona player that didn’t receive a ton of attention in college, not get invited to the NFL Combine, but still work their way into a decent draft position

- Not totally unrelated to Magloire not being used effectively last year, Rich Rodriguez is firmly on the hot seat. Rivals graded recruiting classes of those on the hot seat, and gave Arizona a C- for effort:

“The Wildcats were horrid last year on the field and recruiting took a hit as well. What started off as a promising class finished as very mediocre overall. They missed on some serious needs in this class and let too many kids get away. Arizona also did not make themselves faster or more athletic.”

- If you missed it on Saturday, Tony Dews is expected to be named West Virginia’s running backs coach in the coming days, leaving Arizona with a vacancy at WR coach

Basketball

- After Saturday’s demolition, Arizona fell to 9th and 10th in the AP and Coaches polls, respectively

- Matt put out his first Bracketology of the year, and the Cats are a 3-seed for now

- Are we about to see more Keanu Pinder again?

- Couple recruiting things from the weekend: Trevon Duval is planning on visiting Tucson in a couple weeks, and Brian Bowen’s commitment could be coming later. Also, people this tall shouldn’t be able to do this:

Baseball

- Matt Fraizer isn’t your typical freshman, making him a good candidate to start in the outfield right away

- Another Matt, Matt Morin, is still not on an official roster, but that could change before next Friday’s opener

Other sports

- Women’s swimming dominated ASU over the weekend, while the men tied. I have a hot swimming take: ASU is doing a better job with its program right now than Arizona

- Women’s basketball only lost by eight to No. 11 Oregon State

Tucson news

- You know those really bad ADOT highway safety signs? Well, you can come up with your own now. A change is coming to the driver’s license test as well

- A Tanque Verde student was struck by a train and killed in Vail

- Two Tucson burger places made this list of the best burgers in Arizona
