Jalen Harris to Arizona: Three-star linebacker signs with Wildcats over Notre Dame

The son of a Desert Swarm member is heading to Tucson

Sean Harris played for the Arizona Wildcats from 1991-94 after graduating from Tucson High, and in 2017, his son Jalen will be following in his footsteps.

Jalen Harris is a three-star linebacker out of Desert Ridge HS in Mesa. Even though he has been committed to Arizona since early August, Harris recently took visits to Illinois, Washington, and most notably Notre Dame, but opted to sign with the Wildcats after a busy few weekends for him.

The younger Harris played on both sides of the ball for Desert Ridge this year. He had 36 receptions for 517 yards and six touchdowns while also hurrying the opposing quarterback 15 times, picking up 8.5 sacks.

Landing a legacy recruit like this is important for Arizona, but it’s even more important that they didn’t lose him. It seemed like there was a real chance that Jalen would decide to go a different direction (possibly due to his father’s input). But now we know that’s not happening, and now Jalen will have the opportunity to do things in Tucson that his father was able to do over 20 years ago, like be a two-time All-conference player, and an All-American.

You can check out what the new Harris brings in his highlight video below:
