Arizona football recruiting: 5-star kicker Lucas Havrisik commits to Wildcats

Arizona is trying to finish strong

The Arizona Wildcats landed a commitment from five-star kicker Lucas Havrisik of Norco High School (Norco, CA), as he announced on Twitter late Sunday night. This gives Arizona 24 commitments for the 2017 recruiting class.

This was a commitment that should have been expected, as special teams coach Charlie Ragle was on the lookout for a new specialist. Arizona had offered former Baylor kicker Spencer Evans, but he never made it to campus for his official visit. The staff then went to Havrisik, who had been hearing from Portland State, UNLV, and a handful of Division-II schools.

Arizona already has a scholarship kicker in Josh Pollack, who will be entering his redshirt junior season. Since the departure of Casey Skowron and Drew Riggleman, special teams have been extremely inconsistent. The staff will now look to Havrisik in order to address these issues. Last year’s kickoff specialist, Edgar Gastelum, is no longer listed on the team’s roster.

At Norco High, Havrisik went 11/16 on field goals, with longs of 43, 44, 47, 48, and two from 51 yards out. He punted 40 times for 1,591 yards, averaging just under 40 yards a boot. He kicked off 87 times, forcing a touchback on 82 of those instances.
