Pac-12 roundup: Stanford, Colorado rebound in Week Seven
A bit of separation happened in the Pac-12 this week
A quarter of the Pac-12 was on a bye this week, but that didn’t stop a couple of teams from picking up much-needed wins in both divisional races.
We know that the Arizona Wildcats got crushed by the USC Trojans 48-14 on Saturday afternoon, but now we take a look at the rest of the conference.

Colorado Buffaloes 40 - Arizona State Sun Devils 16
ASU and UA are going to have similar offensive issues the rest of the year because playing with your fourth-string quarterback is far from ideal. The Devils only managed to gain 199 total yards in this game, and just 50 rushing yards.
On the other hand, Sefo Liufau returned to CU’s helm, and didn’t look like he missed a beat, throwing for 265 yards on 23 completions. It doesn’t hurt that Phillip Lindsay ran for 219 yards and scored three touchdowns to single-handedly take down ASU and move to 3-1 in conference play. The Sun Devils are now 2-2 vs. Pac-12 teams.

Stanford Cardinal 17 - Notre Dame Fighting Irish 10
There are several high-profile programs struggling this year, and these are two of them, but Notre Dame is definitely struggling harder than the Cardinal. The Irish are now 2-5 on the year after this home loss to a Stanford team that had been swept by the Washington schools before this trip.
Stanford’s offense actually only scored two points in this game. Notre Dame led 10-0 at half, but the Cardinal were able to return an interception and a fumble for touchdowns, and also recorded a safety. The offense chipped in with a two-point conversion to make it 17-10 early in the final quarter.

Utah Utes 19 - Oregon State Beavers 14
This was a game played in pretty ugly weather conditions, resulting in the two teams COMBINING for 142 passing yards (Utah 42, OSU 100).
Despite that, the Utes still came out on top thanks to Joe Williams and his 34 carries for 179 yards. All in all, this was an evenly played game and I’m not really sure if that says more about Oregon State or Utah. The Utes are still 3-1 in conference and 6-1 overall.
Retirement just isn't for everybody. > ⛳️

Washington State Cougars 27 - UCLA Bruins 21
Don’t look now, but the two teams tied atop the North standings are...UW and WSU. That 2016 Apple Cup though.
The Cougars were in control of this game early before UCLA tried to mount a late comeback. The Bruins were forced to use backup QB Mike Fafaul because they are a Pac-12 South team, and he ended up throwing three touchdowns, but also two picks including this one with under a minute left in the game.
What really kept UCLA from winning this game was their rushing attack, which managed just 43 yards on 25 carries against WSU. The Cougs weren’t a ton better in that aspect, but did get all three of their touchdowns on the ground, which is interesting.
