Week One College Football Schedule for the casual fan

The full top-25 television schedule for week one of college football. Broken down for the casual fan.

Easing back into college football? Want a preview of the week one college football schedule? Wildcat Radio previews each top-25 game and provides some quick insight into each team...kind of.

September 1, 7:00 pm ET, ACC Network
Charlotte vs. Louisville
Ask yourself this question and answer it honestly: did you know there was an ACC Network? Is it a local access cable station? During football season do they just play 1990's Florida State games on a loop? Louisville's head coach Bobby Petrino was hired AFTER he basically ghost rode his motorcycle into a ditch with a woman who was not his wife. But, hey, they have a good football program so it all evens out. Quick, in three seconds name the football conference that Charlotte is in...you lose.

September 1, 7:00 pm ET, Big Ten Network
Furman vs. Michigan State
Furman University is named after Chester G. Furman. An English Puritan, avid sportsman, and the first Governor of New Hampshire, Furman also played the piccolo in his spare time and wrote the original score to "Yankee Doodle", which was instantly adopted as the marching song for the American Continental Army. Just kidding, that was Robert Morris. Just kidding it wasn't Robert Morris. That was all made up. Michigan is cold.

September 2, 7:30 pm ET, SEC Network
Appalachian State vs. Tennessee
For most Americans, Appalachian State is the Devo of College Football. Nobody knows what happened to them after they upset Michigan in 2007. The entire team could have been captured by pirates on a celebratory cruise and nobody would have been the wiser. They face Tennessee, a school whose band only knows one song and will play it until your face falls off.

September 2, 7:30 pm ET, Fox Sports Net
Northwestern State vs. Baylor

A few years ago, Baylor didn't make the College Football Playoff because they had a weak non-conference schedule. So this year they are playing Northwestern State.

September 2, 9:00 pm ET, Fox Sports One
Kansas State vs. Stanford
This game features Christian McCaffrey, who would have won the Heisman Trophy last year if college football writers stayed up to watch West Coast games. Not convinced? Watch his Rose Bowl highlights. The FIRST PLAY OF THE GAME, when everyone in the stadium knew he was getting the ball, McCaffrey juked an Iowa linebacker out of his shoes and scored on a 70-yard touchdown reception. He ended the game with 368 total yards. Kansas State's coach, Bill Snyder, is one of the best in the game. He is a wizard. Snyder turned Kansas State into a top program, retired, then came BACK to Kansas State and DID IT AGAIN.

September 3, Noon ET, ESPN
Hawaii vs. Michigan
The only question here is whether or not the spread of this game will be larger than the number of miles the Hawaii football team will travel this year.

September 3, Noon ET, Big Ten Network
Bowling Green vs. Ohio State.
Ohio State does a cool thing -- they try to play as many schools inside Ohio to keep revenue in the state. This would be even more awesome if any of the other Ohio schools were good at football.

September 3, Noon ET, ABC
Houston vs. Oklahoma
This is one of the best games of the week. Houston is coached by Tom Herman, one of the most impressive young coaches in the country. Herman is basically treating Houston like the bar at a nice restaurant who has you on their waiting list. He's hanging around, having a good time until Charlie Strong gets fired at Texas. Oklahoma's quarterback, Baker Mayfield, and running back, Samaje Perine, are really, really good.

September 3, 2:00 pm ET, Pac-12 Network
Rutgers vs. Washington
No team's favor among sports writers has swung back and forth more than Washington. They are awesome! They are overrated. This team could make the playoffs! Everyone pump the brakes. I Will Fight You! JAKE BROWNING CAN'T TIE HIS SHOES AND WETS THE BED!!!! They face Rutgers who was let into the Big Ten because the Midwest schools think that everything cool comes from awesome East Coast cities like Newark.

September 3, 3:30 pm ET, Fox Sports Net
Southeastern Louisiana vs. Oklahoma State
Just your annual reminder that Oklahoma State's mascot is the faceless monster that hunts you in your nightmares.

September 3, 3:30 pm ET, ESPNU
Miami (Ohio) vs. Iowa
There is an old Holiday Inn located in an awful part of Washington D.C. It's surrounded by rundown restaurants, crime, and the traffic is awful. But tourists always end up staying there because Google maps tells them it's only 5 miles as the crow flies from Capitol Hill. Do you think the same thing happens to families who pack up the family for vacation and fly to Miami, Ohio?

September 3, 3:30 pm ET, ABC
UCLA vs. Texas A&M
This should be a great game. No college quarterback has ever seen more hype coming off an okay freshman year than UCLA's Josh Rosen. He is good, and his team is good, but every year UCLA seems to show promise and wilt under the pressure. Texas A&M's 12th man will definitely not be a backup quarterback. They all left during the offseason.

September 3, 3:30 pm ET, ABC
LSU vs. Wisconsin
LSU's football coach Les Miles is the man. He eats grass, he won a national championship, he is 61-27 in the toughest conference in the country, and the best interview outside of Mike Leach. He almost got fired for losing three games last year. Wisconsin is coached by Paul Cryst and his overbearing mother-in-law, Barry Alvarez.

September 3, 5:00 pm ET, Pac-12 Network
UC Davis vs. Oregon
Oregon has so many fast and talented playmakers that Devon Allen, who placed fifth in the world at the 110m hurdles at the Rio Olympics, DIDN'T CRACK THEIR FIRST TEAM DEPTH CHART. U.C. Davis sounds like someone who served as Vice President under Millard Fillmore.

September 3, 5:30 pm ET, ESPN
Georgia vs. North Carolina
This should be a solid game. Georgia coach Mark Richt went 83-37 in the SEC and was replaced with a younger, up-and-coming coach. This is similar to going to the local kabob place rather than Chipotle because it's more exotic and you want a change and then being disappointed because you remembered you don't like cucumbers or lamb.

September 3, 7:30 pm ET, SEC Network
University of Massachusetts vs. Florida
This has been the best thing written about Florida and it's not close. It comes from @StephenSchramm -- If you were at Florida for all of 2007, you shared a campus with: Ryan Lochte, Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Joakim Noah, Aaron Hernandez. So weird.

September 3, 8:00 pm ET, ABC
USC vs. Alabama
Lane Kiffin face. Lane Kiffin face wearing a sombrero. You're welcome.

September 3, 8:00 pm ET, Fox Sports Net
South Dakota State vs. TCU
Meh.

September 3, 9:00 pm ET, ESPN
Clemson vs. Auburn
Clemson returns starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, who threw and ran for more than 5,100 yards and 47 touchdowns(!!!). Auburn returns a subpar defense. This should be fun.

September 4, 7:30 pm ET, ABC
Notre Dame vs. Texas
I am so excited to share the video for the Ole Miss vs. Florida State game that I'm skipping this one.

September 5, 8:00 pm ET, ESPN
Ole Miss vs. Florida State
This was the best video ever filmed about Ole Miss, wait for the 40 second mark.
