Sonoran Hot Reads: BYU needs Jamaal Williams to be his old self

The Cougars’ running back will be returning this weekend after a year away from football

When the BYU Cougars take the field on Saturday against the Arizona Wildcats, an old face will be making an appearance for them. Jamaal Williams, who withdrew from school prior to the 2015 season, is back and ready to resume his role as BYU’s starting running back. Just 930 yards shy of the school’s all-time rushing record, Williams’ ability to hit his stride early will be crucial for this offense. With Ty Detmer running the offense now, Williams will be even more important than before

- Cody Ramer is currently rehabbing with the AZL Angels. He was 2-for-4 there on Saturday. They play in Goodyear against the Reds Monday night if you’re so inclined to go watch Ramer as the AZL ends its season

Other sports

- Volleyball led two sets to nothing against No. 6 Hawaii in Hawaii, but dropped the final three sets and the match

Tucson news

- The TPD Red Tag Unit appears to have been putting up red tags left and right this weekend
