Arizona basketball: Talbott Denny suffers apparent knee injury, according to report

It appears Denny's season could be in doubt

Arizona Wildcats guard Talbott Denny is in a brace after suffering an apparent knee injury this offseason, according to Greg Hansen of the Arizona Daily Star.

Hansen also speculated that the injury could be season-ending, and Jason Scheer of WildcatAuthority.com reported Denny suffered the injury at the UA recreation center.

Denny, who transferred to Arizona from Lipscomb this offseason, has had injury issues before, as the 6-foot-6 guard missed all but one of Lipscomb's games in 2015-16.

Before transferring, Denny averaged 4.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game with a 41.5 field-goal percentage in 90 games with the Bison.

As I wrote in April, Denny — if healthy — likely won't have a major role in Tucson this upcoming season, but the fifth-year senior would provide depth and leadership.

"[Sean Miller] said he can see me like a [Matt] Korcheck type of deal, where I come in for a couple minutes when somebody is in foul trouble or something like that," Denny told the Daily Wildcat. "He told me, ‘I want you to be a role model and a leader for the younger guys who we’re bringing in.’"

Denny, a Tucson native, was an Arizona fan growing up and it'd be a shame if this injury prevented him from suiting up as a Wildcat.

That said, if this injury is truly season-ending, Denny could apply for a sixth year of eligibility, though it's hardly a given that he'd be granted it.

Let's hope it doesn't come down to that.
