Arizona football recruiting: JuCo linebacker Delshawn Phillips commits to Wildcats

This pushes Arizona up to 24 commitments on the year, which means the staff will certainly be going far beyond the 25 scholarship limit.

The Arizona Wildcats have landed JUCO linebacker Delshawn Phillips out of Garden City CC (Garden City, Kansas), Phillips announced on Twitter.

This is yet another unforeseen commitment, which pushes Arizona up to 24 commitments on the year, meaning the staff will almost certainly be going beyond the 25 scholarship limit.

Phillips, a 6-foot-1, 215 pound linebacker, originally committed to Western Michigan back in November of 2013 and signed with the Broncos on National Signing Day 2014.

He agreed to gray shirt and there must have been some complications in the process, which led him to Garden City. He was offered by Arizona on June 13th and it didn't take long for him to pull the trigger.

The most recent Wildcat commit is originally from Michigan, which is a territory that Chris Singletary has been recruiting hard this cycle. This is now the third commit from the state, joining Bryce Brand and Bryce Wolma.

Phillips will be a mid-year enrollee come January, which will give him a huge jump in the spring to give the Wildcats some depth. This commitment also makes things with Isaac Slade-Matautia a lot more interesting. Despite the strong interest, Slade-Matautia might have to look elsewhere now.
