Arizona football recruiting: 3-star athlete Darrian McNeal commits to Wildcats

Arizona just got a lot faster

The Arizona Wildcats went just over a week without a verbal commitment this time, before 3-star athlete Darrian McNeal ended the drought, committing to Arizona during his unofficial visit.

McNeal, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound 3-star athlete out of Seffner, Florida, had told me a few weeks ago that Arizona was his top school. Still, he had a few unofficial visits planned including South Florida and Louisville in the coming weeks. Georgia Tech and Tennessee were also heavily in the mix, but he felt that Arizona was the best fit, allowing him to showcase his abilities.

This now gives Arizona six pass catchers for the 2017 recruiting class, pretty much giving them space for one specifically set aside for 5-star Joseph Lewis, who I feel has an extremely high chance of landing in Tucson.

This means that guys like Bruce Judson and Chris Brooks would ultimately be flexed to play more of a running back role, with the expanded option of also being used in the slot.

He’s an electrifying athlete, mostly playing quarterback at Armwood High School. He accumulated 1,697 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns, adding 1,238 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns. His junior year highlights are below.
