Arizona baseball: Five Wildcats named to All-Pac-12 team

The most in the conference from any school

After finishing tied for third in the Pac-12 with a 16-14 conference record, the Arizona Wildcats had five players named to the All-Conference team on Thursday. That is the most from any school this season, and the most Arizona has had since 2012, when that team had six players on the All-Conference team.

The five Arizona players are: Ryan Aguilar, Nathan Bannister, Bobby Dalbec, Zach Gibbons, and Cody Ramer. These are five players that won't be back next year since four of them are seniors and Dalbec is likely to be drafted sometime in the first five rounds of next week's MLB Draft. Dalbec was named to the All-Pac-12 squad as a relief pitcher this year after being a pitcher and third baseman on last year's team.

Junior pitcher JC Cloney was also an honorable mention.

This really just puts a cap on the storyline that lasted all season of the seniors leading this team back to the postseason for the first time since 2012. Gibbons and Ramer held down the top two spots in the lineup throughout the season. Then Aguilar, while playing both first base and left field, was the most consistent power source in the middle of Arizona's lineup.

Then you've got Bannister anchoring the pitching staff all year. And the two juniors on this list, Cloney and Dalbec, being right behind him with Dalbec finding different roles as a starter and reliever.

Arizona continues its surprising run on Friday when they open the Lafayette Regional against Sam Houston State. That game will start at 11 AM PT on Watch ESPN.
