Sonoran Hot Reads: Arizona softball starts dancing...literally
Not quite actual game action, but still good stuff
The Arizona Wildcats were supposed to start their quest for another Women's College World Series appearance on Friday. They did...sort of. The opening game against Ohio State started a little late, and was suspended in the third inning due to weather. But that didn't stop the Cats from having some fun.

Ohio State didn't want to be outdone though:

- Anyways, the two teams will pick up the scoreless game at 7 AM PT. This is the schedule assuming there's no rain the rest of the weekend:

- The era of Arizona softball domination started with the 1991 team. Anthony Gimino went in-depth on that team
- Jennie Finch is an assistant at McNeese State. They beat ASU on Friday, and were actually an inning away from no-hitting the Sun Devils
Baseball
- These Cats were not rained out, but they probably wish they were. Oregon handed Arizona its first shutout of the year, with the Ducks coming out on top 3-0. The Wildcats are 0-for-23 with runners on base in their last two games
- This came despite Oregon starter Cole Irvin apparently having an awful bullpen session before the game
- Steve Selsky became the third former Wildcat called up to the Big Leagues this week. He struck out in his first career MLB at bat as a pinch-hitter for the Reds
In 2010, these were the top 3 hitters for @ArizonaBaseball. Each has been called up this week. #BearDown http://pic.twitter.com/yiWhDXdOfG

- Joey Rickard hit a home run against the Angels
Basketball
- Arizona offered 2018 point guard Brandon Williams
- Gabe York is ready to do whatever it takes to get a shot at the NBA
Football
- Reggie Gilbert may be in a great situation for his particular skill set with the Packers
- Nebraska is doing some interesting things with big-time California prospects, including a likely Arizona commit in Elijah Blades
- Can the Pac-12 have a Heisman winner with the current TV deal? It's more difficult, that's for sure
Other sports
- Women's golf is in fifth place after one round at the NCAA Championships. They are seven strokes behind Oklahoma State, and also trail UCLA, Washington and USC. Haley Moore is also tied for first place individually with Purdue's August Kim
- Men's tennis hired Utah State head coach Clancy Shields to the same position
Tucson news
