Sonoran Hot Reads: Ricky Hunley officially not retained by Memphis

This has been coming for a while now

When the Memphis Tigers hired Arizona State's Mike Norvell to be their new head coach, former Arizona Wildcat Ricky Hunley said that he wouldn't be back there because "He's from Arizona State." Well, it became officially official this week, as Norvell formally announced his new coaching staff at Memphis. This will fuel the speculation of Hunley returning to Arizona to coach the defensive line or linebackers as there are currently openings for both spots, but I don't see the personality conflicts between him and Rich Rodriguez allowing that to happen. But we'll see, as Hunley says he plans on moving back west to Los Angeles.

- Arizona finished 10th in ESPN's Pac-12 Power Rankings, and that's kind of depressing that only Colorado and Oregon State were worse

- UTSA has essentially been a conference opponent the last three years, and it's sad to see Larry Coker leave the program he built from scratch. I had the pleasure to talk to him a couple of times over the past three years, and he could not have been more gracious with his time, and I will always appreciate that
