Arizona Basketball: Player grades for Boise State and Northwestern State

It's Gabe York's world and we're just living in it.

Whoever fired up Gabe York this home-stand needs to be hired full time.

Coming into 2015, the highly-touted recruit out of West Covina, California was known as a streaky sharpshooter and not much else. Four games into the season, that streaky sharpshooter has emerged as an all-around scorer and one that will seemingly have his name called abundantly game after game.

Without further ado...

Player Grades

Gabe York, A+: The first A+ ranking of the season finds no qualms being placed next to York. With 41 points scored this weekend on 13-24 shooting (and an eye opening 50% from behind the arc) York is headed for a YUUGGEE senior season.

Arizona Fans, A: With over 14,000 at both of the games, UA fans don't need a warm up. They are already in midseason form with their attendance. Meanwhile at UCLA....

Allonzo Trier, A-: The only other person with double-figure scoring in the two games, received his first start Sunday night with the absence of Ryan Anderson. While his shooting percentage was a tick under 50% for the two game stretch, his 23 combined points were a big asset, especially in beating Boise State.

Kadeem Allen, B+: As a point guard, he may not fill up the points column, but he's sure filling up all the others. With 11 assists (and only three turnovers), seven rebounds, and five steals, Allen is showing why he was named National Ju-Co player of the year.

Ryan Anderson, B+: While he only played in Thursday's game against Boise State due to an ankle injury, Anderson had eight points and 15, yes 15, rebounds.  Anything near that production on a nightly basis will make him a high favorite for Pan-12 Player of the Year.

Dusan Ristic, B+: He played 31 minutes this weekend and had 15 rebounds. Just that statistic alone is fantastic, but when you also throw in 17 points, he's playing beyond his years.

Kaleb Tarczewski, B: He saw how much fun Ristic was having with rebounds and decided his days of not doing it were over. Zeus finished the weekend with 17 rebounds and 11 points while providing great interior support on both ends.

Parker Jackson-Cartwright, B: When the team needed his scoring (Boise State) he provided, with 14 points on 5-6 scoring and also had another game with zero turnovers. Then, when his team needed his vision (NSU) he also provided with six assists and again zero turnovers. On the season, PJC has a fantastic 16:4 assist/turnover ratio.

Mark Tollefsen, B: His performance wouldn't blow anyone out of the water, but with a further review, he stuffed the stat sheet. With 50% shooting, 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, a block and steal, Tollefsen is giving Arizona everything they could have asked for.

Elliott Pitts, C: Pitts has been great at taking charges this season, but not much else is going well for him. He hasn't caught fire from deep (only two 3's on the year), and the junior did pick up 9 fouls, something Coach Miller probably isn't thrilled about.

Chance Comanche, N/A: Only played in Sunday's game, though he did accumulate four rebounds in four minutes (nearly all came on one play however). He'll continue to look to improve as the season goes on.

Justin Simon, N/A: He also only played in Sunday's game (7 minutes), but he actually came in relatively early. With four points, two rebounds, and a steal, Simon is giving us glimpses of the potential he harnesses.  With a logjam at the guard position, he'll have to bide his time until playing time opens up.

Arizona's next game is Thanksgiving night, as they'll take on the Santa Clara Broncos in Fullerton for the Wooden Legacy Classic.
