Arizona football injury report: Nick Wilson and DaVonte' Neal questionable for Wildcats
Will Arizona have its biggest weapon?
For a game that seems like it will be extremely high-scoring, the Arizona Wildcats may be without two really important pieces in a game like that.
Here's a look at the team's official injury report:
Probable: None
Questionable: DaVonte' Neal (hamstring), Nick Wilson (foot), Tellas Jones (concussion), Parker Zellers (knee)
Doubtful: Tyrell Johnson (hamstring)
Out: Scooby Wright III (knee), Derrick Turituri (hip)
Both Wilson and Neal were questionable last week against Colorado, and neither actually played, even though both were dressed and on the sidelines. So we'll see how this plays out on Saturday afternoon. If Wilson is unable to go, expect to see a lot of Jared Baker again, and maybe even Orlando Bradford.
Neal's presence is crucial given how WSU depends on its passing game. I would have guessed that Jarvis McCall would have played more against Colorado, but did not even see the field until the third quarter. Freshman Jace Whittaker got the start at corner opposite Cam Denson, and both of them got burned a couple of times. Corner is a very vulnerable position, especially without Neal. That does not bode well for trying to match up with WSU.
Tellas Jones possibly missing this game could be bad for the secondary too. He's been the most consistent safety this year in my opinion, but Anthony Lopez has been pretty good filling in for Jones. Zellers being injured just means more Jack Banda maybe.
Tyrell Johnson played about a game and a half before re-injuring himself it seems. He was being used out of the backfield, giving Arizona an even faster option than Baker at running back. But that may not be the case this week.
Turituri and Wright are both targeting the USC game as their return date, so I would not expect to see them next week at Washington either.
