Arizona Bowl Projections: Wildcats fighting for bowl eligibility
An in-state bowl might be likely for Arizona, and it's not the Fiesta Bowl
After the Washington State loss, the Arizona Wildcats are now sitting at 5-3 on the season, and 2-3 in the Pac-12. Now on the outside looking in, they're fighting for bowl eligibility.
Arizona is dropping in the projections, but an in-state bowl might be likely for Arizona. There have been a few votes here and there for the Cactus Bowl up in Tempe, and just a few for Tucson's Arizona Bowl. For being a bad bowl game, it would still be pretty sweet to have Arizona play in front of home crowd for the Arizona Bowl.
Site | Bowl | Opponent | Location | Date |
SB Nation | Foster Farms | Iowa | Santa Clara, CA | December 26th |
CBS Sports | Cactus Bowl | Texas | Tempe, AZ | January 2nd |
Schlabach (ESPN) | Arizona Bowl | San Jose State | Tucson, AZ | December 29th |
McMurphy (ESPN) | Cactus Bowl | Texas Tech | Tempe, AZ | January 2nd |
Bleacher Report | Independence Bowl | Virginia Tech | Shreveport, LA | December 26th |
ESPN Pac-12 Blogs | At-large |
With the remaining schedule, it'll be very tough for Arizona to win another game this season, but it all starts with Washington this weekend. The Pac-12 blog seems fairly accurate here, because the Pac-12 is only guaranteed for 7 bowl games, and Arizona is currently sitting at about 10th.
But, just one more win is necessary, and Washington this week is probably Arizona's best chance for a win. Next to that, maybe it's Utah, at home, in November, when Rich Rodriguez is always set for a big time upset.
