Sonoran Hot Reads: Arizona played six true freshmen in season opener

How does that compare to the rest of the conference?

The Arizona Wildcats ran out six true freshmen in the season opener last Thursday, which is a pretty good indicator of how many first-year guys we'll see throughout the year. But when you look at the amount of true freshmen the rest of the Pac-12 teams played, the six used by Rich Rodriguez are about average, as four teams had more. USC had by far the most with 13.

- I think this is the biggest recruiting pick up so far for Jay Johnson as Chaparral star Blake Paugh committed to Arizona. He is a highly-ranked prospect nationally by all of the major baseball publications

- Four swimming freshmen were named Scholastic All-Americans
