Arizona football: Scooby Wright out 3-4 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery

The UCLA game is still a possibility

Rich Rodriguez made it official on Monday at his press conference, announcing that Scooby Wright III is out 3-4 weeks after suffering a lateral meniscus tear against UTSA last Thursday.

Wright underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Saturday, and will still travel with the team to Nevada to undergo treatment from the team doctors. Rodriguez also said that from all the information he got initially from the trainers on the sideline, that there was never any thought that this injury would be season-ending.

"It went well," Rodriguez said of the knee surgery. "So we hope to get him back in a few weeks."

Three weeks from the surgery date is the Pac-12 opener against the UCLA Bruins. Four weeks is the Stanford game. Obviously, Arizona would like to have Wright back by the UCLA game.

"Whatever limits they'll give him, he's going to stretch it to the limit, because that's just Scooby's personality."

"Fortunately, he got it fixed, and I think he can come back even stronger," coach continued. "And knowing Scooby, he'll be chomping at the bit. But we'll make sure that when he does come back, he comes back a hundred percent ready to go."

Other Arizona injury notes include Freddie Tagaloa, who was a gametime decision with a knee tweak. Coach is hopeful that his starting left tackle will be ready to go by Saturday against Nevada. Cam Denson suffered a concussion, and will be evaluated throughout the week. And two other linebackers in Jake Matthews and DeAndre' Miller suffered injuries during the game, but continued playing.

Rodriguez did say that two guys had to have procedures on Saturday, but did not say who the second player was.

"Our medical treatment is second to none, so kudos to our staff."
