Arizona football injury report: Scooby Wright, Cayleb Jones and Samajie Grant all questionable vs. UCLA
Let the speculation begin
As we noted earlier in the week, Scooby Wright III did indeed return to practice this week for the Arizona Wildcats, but he is still listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the UCLA Bruins.
He's joined by a couple of other big names. Here's a look:
Probable: DeAndre' Miller (wrist), Luca Bruno (concussion), Carter Hehr (concussion)
Questionable: Scooby Wright (knee), Cayleb Jones (ankle), Samajie Grant (knee)
Doubtful: None
Out: Trey Griffey (foot), Tyrell Johnson (foot), Haden Gregory (knee), Orlando Bradford (concussion)
That's the biggest playmaker on defense, and arguably the two biggest playmakers at receiver that are all listed as questionable. Players listed as questionable tend not to play, but with the importance of this week, maybe we'll see them, even in a limited capacity.
With Jones hurt, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jerrard Randall out there early at receiver, as a big body opposite of David Richards. Richards had a career game last week, and Randall got his first run at receiver last week for a series. It also stinks that Griffey and Johnson still haven't been able to find their way back to the field.
Nate Phillips will step up for Samajie Grant, and Johnny Jackson will likely get a lot more playing time as well, along with Shun Brown and Jonathan Haden in the slot.
Miller has not played the last couple of weeks, and if he is able to return, that would at least give the linebackers a little more depth if Scooby isn't able to go. Luca Bruno coming back helps out the defensive line a lot, and will give them fresher bodies to get after Josh Rosen and Paul Perkins.
These are some pretty important injuries this week for Arizona. Of course, UCLA is dealing with their own onslaught of injuries. It's too bad that neither team will be at full strength, but you still have to win these games, even if some of your best players are missing.
