What to do at center now?

After Carter Wood missed practice on Friday and Saturday for the Arizona Wildcats, Rich Rodriguez announced that Wood may miss the season due to a chronic foot injury.

On Friday, left guard Cayman Bundage was taking first team reps at center, and that seems like that may be the ultimate solution, with Zach Hemmila taking over at left guard.

It's unfortunate for Wood, who last week was talking about how excited he was to compete for the starting job in 2015. It also creates a big unknown, as Bundage has always played left guard, even on his high school Oklahoma State Championship team in his junior season.

The recent dismissal of Jordan Poland may be felt a little more now than it would have been as well. Poland is primarily an offensive tackle, and could have given Arizona the option to move Lene Maiava to guard if Poland was good enough to play. Maiava started four games at guard last year (two each at right and left), but is slated to be the starting right tackle this season.

It'll be interesting to see how the offensive line shakes out over the coming weeks, but now there's a little more uncertainty than there was just a few days ago.
