Arizona football recruiting: Linebacker Calvin Tubbs waiting on an Arizona offer

Calvin Tubbs has that Hard Edge

Arizona has been known to spot talent before any of the other Pac-12 school. Whenever you see a recruit being offered by Arizona, it's often the first Pac-12 offer they receive. This is no different for Calvin Tubbs, linebacker out of Liberty High School (Henderson, NV). He's been in communication with the coaching staff and is just coming off a strong showing at the latest Rich Rodriguez Camp in Tucson.

He's currently unranked on all major recruiting sites, but that doesn't stop him from the grind. He says he always plays with a chip on his shoulder, which definitely gives him the Hard Edge mentality Arizona so craves. Despite being unranked, he's received a lot of attention from other schools and is on the verge of receiving a handful of offers. He just came off an unofficial visit at Arizona State, and says that Oregon State, Utah, Utah State and Washington State have been talking to him as of late.

Tubbs is just waiting for his offer from Arizona to commit, claiming it as his dream school. "It's the best. I felt at home when I stepped on the field and I love Coach Casteel", he said when asked his thoughts on Arizona. "What really made them stick out is the school. I want to go there to study criminal justice, it's one of the best [programs] in the country".

He already has a few connections on the team, including redshirt freshman Marcus Griffin and All-American linebacker Scooby Wright. He even got some advice and motivation from Scooby the other week before he heads into his senior season.

I will not wait. I'm going to commit right away

Liberty is known as a football powerhouse in Nevada and Tubbs has a state championship on his mind. During his senior year, he wishes to bulk up and increase his speed. He'll be in good hands this year, as Ryan Claridge, former New England Patriot and UNLV Rebel, is their new linebackers coach.

Tubbs plays both linebacker and running back for Liberty, but says Arizona is recruiting him as a linebacker and will  watch him closely in his first few games of his senior season.

"I will not wait. I'm going to commit right away" when asked about the moment he receives an offer from Arizona.

Some of his linebacker highlights vs. Bishop Gorman are below.
