Arizona football recruiting: 3-star receiver DeVaughn Cooper has Arizona as a top choice
Arizona has a chance at landing another Narbonne prospect
The future at wide receiver is scary to think about once Samajie Grant, Trey Griffey, Cayleb Jones and Nate Phillips all leave in two years. Arizona does have a few receiver prospects coming up in the 2015 recruiting class, but there hasn't been much emphasis on receivers for the 2016 class, making DeVaughn Cooper a top priority for Arizona.
Cooper, a 3-star receiver out of Narbonne High School (Harbor City, CA), picked up an offer from Arizona back on April 12th. Since then, he's received a lot of attention from Michigan, Colorado and both Washington schools. At 5-11 175lbs, he posted a 4.61 40, able to play with the strength to match up on the outside, or play inside on the slot. His junior year highlights are below.
Arizona currently has six commits for 2016, four of which are on offense. One of those four is Sean Riley, running back out of Narbonne, who has been recruiting Cooper himself to come join him in Tucson. Cooper plans to take a visit to Tucson soon, but isn't too sure when it'll happen.
He plans to keep his recruiting process open and has no timetable to commit, but as of now "[Arizona] is one of my top choices", said Cooper. "It's very tempting", when asked about his thoughts of playing in a Rich Rodriguez offense.
When it comes to the decision making process, Cooper will be keeping his eye on individual player statistics, team record, and coaching. In one of the most explosive offenses in the nation, and with three incoming 4-star quarterbacks, there's a lot to like about Arizona as a receiver.
