The Arizona Cardinals announced Saturday that they have promoted cornerback Jace Whittaker to the 53-man roster.
The undrafted rookie spent the first three weeks of the season with their practice squad.

The 5-foot-11 Whittaker started 32 games for the Arizona Wildcats between 2015-19, including all 12 as a redshirt senior. He had three interceptions in 2019, second-most on the team, along with 55 tackles (two for loss) and a sack, and his 34 career passes defended ranks fourth in school history.
Capable of playing corner and safety, Whittaker redshirted in 2018 after playing in just one game that season, suffering a hamstring injury in the preseason and then injuring his elbow in mid-September.
Whittaker joins Rob Gronkowski (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Nick Foles (Chicago Bears), J.J. Taylor (New England Patriots), Nick Folk (New England Patriots) and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (San Francisco 49ers).
Will Parks (Philadelphia Eagles) and Dane Cruikshank (Tennessee Titans) are currently on injured reserve, but are now eligible to be activated.
It will be interesting to see if Whittaker will be active Sunday at Carolina. NFL teams are only allowed to dress 47 of their 53 active players.
