The Arizona Wildcats are no longer without a commitment in the 2021 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Simpson is ranked as the No. 111 player in the country, per 247 Sports. He’s also the seventh-best combo guard in the 2021 class as well as the No. 7 prospect from California.

The Chaminade High School product also plays for AAU program West Coast Elite, the same outfit as recent UA standouts Nico Mannion and Josh Green.

Though he’s yet to make an official visit—the NCAA recently extended the coronavirus-caused recruiting dead period to at least Sept. 30—Simpson has had a longstanding relationship with the UA.

“I love Arizona,” he told Rivals.com. “I’ve been there multiple times for camps and other things. I know Ira Lee and Brandon Williams because I played against them, but I’m familiar with Nico Mannion and Josh Green through West Coast Elite. They are a really good program with a great coaching staff as well.”

Arizona becomes the eighth Pac-12 school with a 2021 commitment. Those that have yet to land one are ASU, Cal, Oregon and Utah.

Another commitment may be possible next month when 4-star Oregon power forward Ben Gregg chooses from among 17 schools on Sept. 9.
