Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports
Arizona Wildcats senior linebacker Colin Schooler was named to the preseason Wuerffel Trophy Award Watch List, given to the “FBS player who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field.”
The award is named after Danny Wuerffel, a national championship winning quarterback at the University of Florida.
Schooler has collected 18 hours of community services, according to Arizona Athletics. This spring he made trips to Diamond Children’s Medical Center and to local classrooms.
Schooler is a three-time Pac-12 All-Conference honorable mention selection. The Dana Point native is expected to lead Arizona’s defensive unit this season.
Over the past three seasons, he has logged 312 tackles (46 for loss), nine sacks, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
