Is that a light at the end of the tunnel we might be seeing?
Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the NCAA voted Wednesday to allow voluntary activities to resume June 1 in football and men’s and women’s basketball. Action on other sports will be taken up at a later date, Thamel reported.
All college sports have been on hold since March 12, when concerns about the coronavirus pandemic put a halt to everything.
The vote doesn’t mean a complete return to activity for those sports, since each conference is likely to make their own decisions with input from state and local governments. The Pac-12 would need to make its own determination before the Arizona Wildcats and other schools in the league could start things up again.
Resumption of activities doesn’t mean upcoming seasons might not still be affected in some way.
