As if graduating from an Ivy League school in three years wasn’t enough to tell you how smart Stone Gettings is, his latest academic honor confirms this.
The Arizona Wildcats senior forward was named the Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Friday. He is the first Arizona player to win the award since it was created in 2007-08.
Gettings, a graduate transfer from Cornell, is on track to complete his Master’s degree in accounting in May from the Eller School of Management. He has a 4.0 GPA since coming to Tucson, after earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors at Cornell.
The 6-foot-9 Gettings is averaging 6.7 points and 4.0 rebounds for Arizona, having started the last 14 games. He’s averaging 7.3 points and 4.8 rebounds as a starter.
