The Arizona Wildcats have been dropped from the AP Top 25 after a maddening overtime loss to the Oregon Ducks, the latest twist in a rollercoaster season.
Previously ranked 24th, Arizona (19-8, 9-5) has alternated being between being ranked and unranked in each of the past five weeks. They received 71 votes in the AP poll, the third-most among teams outside the Top 25.
The Wildcats have remained fairly steady in the NET and KenPom ratings, where they check in at No. 8 and No. 15, respectively.
BracketMatrix.com, which compiles NCAA Tournament projections from a bunch of outlets, says Arizona currently averages out to a 5.91 seed. ESPN’s latest bracketology lists Arizona as a No. 6 seed in the South. CBS pegs the Wildcats as the 7-seed in the Midwest.
Arizona heads to Los Angeles this weekend for a tough two-game swing vs. USC and UCLA. The Wildcats are a game behind ASU for first in the Pac-12 standings, and in a four-way tie (in the loss column) with Oregon, Colorado and UCLA for second.
Oregon (14) and Colorado (21) remain in the Top 25, despite picking up a loss last weekend. ASU, which swept the Oregon schools, is knocking on the door, receiving 95 votes, the most among non-Top 25 teams.
