Wildcat Wrap: Arizona loses Brandon Williams; Sage Watson and Carlos Villarreal win gold at Pan American Games

Track and field

• Fifth-year senior Carlos Villarreal (Mexico) and former UA track star Sage Watson (Canada) won gold at the Pan American Games in the 1,500-meter run and 400-meter hurdles, respectively.

Soccer

• The Wildcats opened practice Tuesday and held their Red-Blue Game on Saturday. Head coach Tony Amato says it’s the fittest team he has ever had.

Baseball

• Kevin Ginkel got called up by the Diamondbacks after posting ridiculous strikeout numbers in the minors. In three innings in the MLB, he’s allowed one run while striking out five.
• Joey Rickard got called up by the Giants.
• Nick Hundley is reportedly going to latch on with the Phillies for the stretch run.
• The Mariners hired Nathan Bannister as an assistant at their Dominican Academy.

Basketball

• Kyle Fogg is staying in the CBA, signing with the Beijing Royal Fighters. Their head coach? Stephon Marbury.
• The McKale Center court got a small change.
