The Wildcats are in consider for another highly-touted prospect

Five-star guard Anaya Boyd listed the Arizona Wildcats in her Top 5 on Thursday. The UA is joined by the USC Trojans, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and Kentucky Wildcats.

Boyd is the the No. 29 player in the 2020 class, according to ESPN rankings. The Hampton, Georgia native attends Lovejoy High School, where the 5-foot-11 guard averaged 12.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game last season.

“Combo-guard rebounds, handles and distributes in uptempo game,” reads her ESPN scouting report. “Smooth delivery on jumper in mid-range game to the arc; brings superior size to the back court, decision-maker in uptempo game; a coveted guard prospect in the class of 2020.”

Boyd is the second five-star recruit who is strongly considering Arizona. 5-star post player Lauren Ware recently listed Arizona in her Top 5, and was on campus last weekend for an official visit, per sources.

Arizona’s 2020 class currently consists of Turkish point guard Derin Erdogan. All five of its 2019 signees were international prospects too.

UA coach Adia Barnes said last season that one reason the Wildcats recruit so heavily overseas is because the program is not at point where it attracts the top American prospects.

But given where it stands for Boyd and Ware, that reality is quickly changing.
