Tigers take Arizona’s Nick Quintana in second round of MLB Draft
Arizona third baseman Nick Quintana was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft on Monday.
Taken 47th overall, Quintana could get up to $1,580,200 as a signing bonus, per MLB.com. If he doesn’t sign he can return to Arizona for his senior year.
Quintana led the Pac-12 with 77 RBI during his junior season, adding a .342 batting average and 15 home runs. For his career he hit .317 with 35 homers—fourth-most in school history—and 170 RBI, starting all 170 games he played for the Wildcats.
Quintana was selected four picks after fellow Arizona infielder Cameron Cannon, who went 43nd overall to the Boston Red Sox.
