Kentucky overtakes Arizona for nation’s No. 1 recruiting class

Adding Johnny Juzang put UK on top

When 247Sports recalibrated its 2019 recruiting rankings this week, the Arizona Wildcats made a slight jump into the nation’s No. 1 spot.

But that title was short-lived.

Four-star forward Johnny Juzang committed to Kentucky on Friday, giving UK the top class in the country, per 247Sports’ metrics. Kentucky was previously ranked No. 3.

The 6-foot-6 Juzang is the No. 32 player in the 2019 class, according to 247Sports composite rankings. He joins a Kentucky class that consists of five-star forwards Kahlil Whitney and Keion Brooks, five-star combo guard Tyrese Maxey, and four-star forward Dontaie Allen.

UK is also adding Bucknell grad transfer Nate Sestina, who averaged 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds this season.

Arizona is likely done adding high school recruits this offseason, so it will be interesting to see where its 2019 class ranks when all is said and done.

No matter where it ends up, it doesn’t change the fact that it is expected to turn the program around in 2019-20.
