Arizona makes late addition to 2019 recruiting class with DT Kyon Barrs
The defensive line remains an area of great need for the Arizona Wildcats, who during spring ball were incredibly thin even with the arrival of junior college transfer Myles Tapusoa. Things got even worse when redshirt sophomore My-King Johnson was one of two players dismissed from the team in April.
So that makes the commitment of 2-star defensive tackle Kyon Barrs even more significant, since his late addition to the 2019 recruiting class could indicate just how desperate Arizona is for warm bodies up front.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Barrs is from Murrieta, Calif., the same hometown as junior cornerback Lorenzo Burns. He’s rated by 247Sports as the 209th-best defensive tackle in the 2019 class, with offers from Florida Atlantic, Toledo and some FCS schools before Arizona extended one on Thursday.
Barrs will be one of three defensive tackles set to arrive in the summer, along with JUCO transfer Trevon Mason—who was originally expected to enroll in January—and 3-star Dallas prep product Kane Bradford.
