Arizona interested in North Florida transfer Noah Horchler, per report

The Arizona Wildcats are one of several teams that have contacted North Florida transfer Noah Horchler, according to Rivals’ Corey Evans.

The 6-foot-8 junior averaged 16.0 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game with the Ospreys this season, shooting 54 percent from the field, 29.6 percent from 3 and 51.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Horchler would have to a sit out a season before suiting up for his new school. He was dismissed from the North Florida program late in the 2018-19 season after twice violating team rules. Horchler originally joined UNF in 2017-18 as a junior college transfer.

Prior to his dismissal, Horchler was fourth in the Atlantic Sun in scoring and first in rebounding.

″[Horchler] is a great kid who made a bad decision,” UNF coach Matthew Driscoll told the Daily Commercial. “This is like taking your own son and throwing him out of the house. You just hope it’s a life lesson so that when he’s 30 or 35, he remembers and makes good choices.”

Arizona is expected to add one or two more players this spring, but it is hard to project how Horchler would fit with the Wildcats since he would not be eligible to play until 2020-21.

That said, Arizona is set to lose Stone Gettings and Chase Jeter (assuming he returns) after the 2019-20 season, so there will be a need in the frontcourt.

Arizona has also reportedly contacted William & Mary grad transfer Justin Pierce, and will be connected to several more transfers as we get deeper into the offseason.
