Zero Arizona players invited to NFL Scouting Combine

Expect to see any recently departed Arizona Wildcats playing on Sunday in the fall? If that happens, it won’t be due to a breakout performance at the NFL Scouting Combine.

That’s because there will be no Arizona alums at the event, set for Feb. 26-March 4 in Indianapolis.

Arizona is one of three Pac-12 schools, along with California and Oregon State, that isn’t sending anyone to the combine. The other nine teams in the league have 39 total alums set to participate.

Without a combine invite, NFL hopefuls such as wide receivers Shawn Poindexter and Tony Ellison, offensive tackle Layth Friekh. defensive lineman PJ Johnson and punter Dylan Klumph will need to impress pro scouts in other workouts. Arizona is set to have its annual “Pro Day” on March 15.

Bleacher Report NFL Draft expert Matt Miller does not have any Arizona players in his latest mock draft. If that ends up to be the case it would be the fourth time in the past seven years (and second in the last three) the Wildcats didn’t have anyone drafted.
