Former Arizona standout Brooks Reed signs with Cardinals

A few days after getting cut by one NFL team, former Arizona Wildcats star Brooks Reed has found a new home, one much closer to his college roots.

The Arizona Cardinals announced Saturday it had signed Reed to a one-year contract, two days after he was released by the Atlanta Falcons.

Reed, 31, will be entering his ninth season in the NFL this fall. He played the last four with Atlanta, where in 2015 he signed a 5-year, $22.5 million deal. The 6-foot-3, 254-pound defensive lineman began his career with the Houston Texans, who took him in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft.

In 120 career games (86 starts), Reed has amassed 21.5 sacks and 35 tackles for loss.

Reed played for UA from 2007-10, notching 17 sacks and 25 TFLs.
