How Arizona basketball’s 2019 recruiting class is performing

With the 2018-19 Arizona Wildcats off to a sluggish start, attention has already turned towards next fall when they will bring in one of the top recruiting classes in the country.

Arizona’s five-man 2019 class currently ranks No. 1 nationally, according to 247sports.com Let’s take a look at how the group is faring midway through December of their senior year.

Nico Mannion

The 6’3 point guard out of Pinnacle HS has gained plenty of social media attention this season and for good reason. Mannion has played nine games for Pinnacle, averaging nearly 28 points and six assists.

Last week Mannion dropped 34 points against Mesa after wearing an Arizona shirt in warm-ups.

Josh Green

Green, Arizona’s second five-star commit, is leading IMG Academy (Florida) to a hot 9-1 start to the season. IMG is No. 2 in maxpreps’ national Xcellent 25 ranking.

Here is Green on display earlier this month.

Zeke Nnaji

Over in Minnesota, Zeke Nnaji has Hopkins High School among the best teams in the state. Arizona’s most recent commit is building an All-American profile with outings like this one from last week:

Last week Nnaji scored 32 points in a win over a division opponent.

Terry Armstrong

Terry Armstrong’s senior season at Bella Vista Prep has featured a couple high profile games, including earlier this month when the school faced LaMelo Ball’s Spire Institute (Ohio) in a national showcase.

Bella Vista hasn’t fared too well this season, starting 3-8, but it hasn’t been because of lack of effort from Armstrong.

Christian Koloko

Koloko plays for powerhouse Sierra Canyon, who is in the running for one of the top prep teams in the country. Of note, Koloko’s high school teammates include Scotty Pippen and Kenyon Martin, both named after their respective fathers. Pippen and Martin, like Koloko, are three-star recruits in the class of 2019.

The seven-footer is doing his fair share to keep Sierra Canyon undefeated.
