Chicago Bulls to call up Rawle Alkins from G League, per report

The Savage Life has a chance to make his NBA debut

The Chicago Bulls are calling up Rawle Alkins from the G League after starting shooting guard Zach LaVine suffered an ankle injury, according to The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry.

Alkins, who signed a two-way contract with the Bulls after going undrafted, has spent the entire season with the Windy City Bulls, where he is averaging 15.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game on .453/.388/.605 shooting.

Alkins will be reunited with former Arizona teammate Lauri Markkanen, who starts for Chicago.

The Bulls are 6-23 this year and have had their fair share of controversy. Head coach Fred Hoiberg was fired midseason and replaced by Jim Boylen, whose overbearing coaching style has not sit well with players, who considered blowing off practice before Markkanen and Robin Lopez convinced them otherwise.

So perhaps Alkins can be a bright spot the same way Allonzo Trier has in New York.
