Aari McDonald named Pac-12 Player of the Week for second time

McDonald averaged 26.5 points last week

Aari McDonald’s redshirt sophomore season continues to him along at a prolific pace.

The Arizona women’s basketball point guard picked up her second Pac-12 Player of the Week honor Monday after averaging 26.5 points in the Wildcats two games last week.

It was the second time in three weeks that the conference bestowed the honor on McDonald. She is Arizona’s first two-time Pac-12 Player of the Week since Candice Warthen in 2015.

McDonald is averaging 26.5 points per game this season, the second highest in the country.

This past Tuesday, McDonald led Arizona with 24 points in a 84-42 win over Incarnate World.

Then on Sunday, she carried the Wildcats to a big road win over San Diego State by scoring a career high 29 points. McDonald nearly tallied a double double, grabbing nine rebounds.

Arizona returns to action Wednesday when the Wildcats host Montana. The team will again travel to southern California this weekend to square off against Long Beach State on Sunday.
