5-star point guard Nico Mannion commits to Arizona
The Wildcats have their first 2019 commit and it’s a big one
What seemed inevitable has come to fruition.
Five-star point guard Nico Mannion committed to the Arizona Wildcats on Friday. The Phoenix product had a final two of Arizona and Marquette, but the Wildcats were always considered the frontrunners.

Mannion becomes Arizona’s first 2019 commit, and it’s a big one. The 6-foot-3 point guard is the No. 17 player in his class and No. 1 player at his position, per 247Sports composite rankings.
He is also the first five-star recruit Arizona has landed since the federal investigation into college basketball, a sign that things are returning to normalcy for Sean Miller and company.
Mannion is scheduled to visit Arizona in mid-October for the Red-Blue Game. Perhaps his commitment will get the ball rolling for the Wildcats, who are in the mix for several other highly-ranked prospects including Mannion’s AAU teammate, Josh Green, a five-star forward who will be visiting the same weekend as Mannion.
