Arizona offers several high-end 2019 recruits

And a 2018 punter! Sort of.

The Arizona Wildcats now have a full coaching staff, which was officially unveiled Tuesday, and they are starting to take advantage of it.

They have offered a ton of 2019 and 2020 prospects throughout the country (with a 2018 prospect sprinkled in) the last 48 hours — and they made their way through Texas, too.

Here are the 2018 and 2019 prospects (we will have a separate list with the 2020 prospects at a different time).

Collin Flintoft, 5-star P

We will start with the lone 2018 prospect and one that I’ve received questions on. Loyola High School (Los Angeles, CA) based punter Collin Flintoft received an offer from new special teams coach Jeremy Springer.

I reached out to Flintoft shortly after and was told the offer was as a preferred walk-on. He said he feels he has a very good chance to win the starting job and earn a scholarship next spring.

He probably does — Flintoft averaged 44 yards per punt last season and is rated as the 10th best punter in the nation by Kohl’s Kicking.

Flintoft said he is looking at visiting Arizona later in February which means he probably won’t make a decision until after Signing Day.

Jeremiah Criddell, 4-star ATH

Now onto 2019 recruits....

This is an offer that I have been waiting awhile for. I have no idea why the last staff didn’t offer Criddell sooner. The 4-star athlete played at Rancho Cucamonga High School (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) in the 2017 season before transferring to Mater Dei during the offseason.

Criddell is an explosive athlete on both sides of the ball. He is able to outrun defensive backs while running his routes and has good hands.

However, he projects as a cornerback at the collegiate level. He is aggressive on defense, fast enough to keep up with receivers downfield and covers a lot of ground sideline-to-sideline. He is also one of those defensive backs who lovea to hit.

Criddell holds offers from USC, UCLA, Nebraska, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Alabama to name a few.

2017 Stats: 34 catches, 712 yards, 8 TDs (couldn’t find any defensive statistics)

Rian Davis, 3-star LB

The high 3-star linebacker was another recipient of an Arizona offer on Tuesday. The Florida native moved to Houston, Texas to play high school ball at Clear Lake High School. This offseason, he transferred back to Apopka, Florida and Wekiva High School.

So I’m going to be blunt about this: Davis is a monster. He is quick, aggressive, has great awareness, can drop back in coverage, can play the run, is a hard hitter, the list goes on. He has this strange knack of shedding blocks and destroying whoever has the ball in the backfield. To me, he has the same football IQ that freshman phenom Colin Schooler has.

Davis finished his junior season with 94 tackles, 15 TFL, 5 sacks and 2 INTs. Oh and he had two defensive touchdowns on scoop-and-scores.

Davis holds offers from Arkansas, Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Houston to name a few.

Jonathan Perkins, 4-star LB

This is another one of those offers I have been waiting for. Luckily the new staff came through. The 4-star linebacker from Cajon High School (San Bernardino, CA) has been increasingly gaining national attention and for good reason.

Perkins is another beastly linebacker. He is one of the best coverage linebackers I’ve seen in some time. He has great hands and covers like a safety. His ability to read the quarterback and know where he is in relation to the receiver is on point. He is also just as dangerous as a pass rusher and defending the run. He is a hard hitter a pretty sure tackler as well.

Of note, he is close with UA signee and former Cajon teammate Jhevon Hill.

Perkins holds offers from UCLA, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State to name a few.

2017 Stats: 189 tackles, 28.0 TFL, 9.5 sacks, 2 INT, 9 PBU, 2 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries

Jalen Cropper, 4-star ATH

Cropper is a 4-star athlete from Sanger High School in the Central Valley near Fresno. He is a versatile athlete that played wide receiver and quarterback for Sanger this past season. He shows great concentration while playing receiver, timing jump balls perfectly and not letting the defensive back break his view of the ball.

I see Cropper succeeding as a receiver at the next level.

Cropper holds other offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Fresno State, Utah, Nevada, and UCLA.

I was unable to find any stats for Cropper.

John Emery Jr., 4-star RB

Arizona dipped into a familiar area Tuesday to offer Emery. The 4-star running back from Destrehan High School in Louisiana is the sixth-ranked running back nationally in the 2019 class so it makes sense why the ‘Cats would offer.

Emery kind of has the full package. He runs hard, with power, has speed, and has some wiggle to him. He is incredibly difficult to bring down for someone his size and he has lower body strength. He is also able to change directions quickly as soon as he plants his foot. It is also worth noting that he has excellent hip mobility which gives him his shiftiness.

Emery holds offers from Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Tennessee to name a few.

I was unable to find any stats on him.

Keilan Robinson, 3-star RB

For this next offer, UA went to another familiar area and high school. Robinson is a high 3-star running back from St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C.

If the school sounds familiar, it was the high school that former special teams/edge rusher coach Brian Knorr used to recruit heavily.

Robinson is a legit dual threat out of the backfield. He is a solid receiver and runs some really good routes. His hands stand out just as much as his legs.

As a runner, he is fast, agile, and rather tough to bring down. Now when I say fast, I mean fast. He has an extra gear he uses in the open field and just flies by people, leaving defenders in the dust.

Robinson holds offers from Indiana, Michigan, Maryland, North Carolina, and Penn State among others.

I was unable to find any stats for Robinson.

Austin Stogner, 4-star TE

Moving back to the Lone Star State and we find Stogner. The 4-star Oklahoma tight end commit is from Prestonwood Christian School in Plano, Texas. Stogner checks in as the second-ranked tight end in the nation.

At this point it is too early to tell if UA can flip him, but they will try.

One of the biggest things that stands out about Stogner is his size. He is a matchup nightmare for defenses. And what’s more is his high school team knows it. He is a red zone weapon, no doubt. Now his speed won’t blind you but he is tough and has good hands.

Stogner has 29 offers total.

2017 Stats: 41 rec, 459 yds, 10 TD

Donte Starks, 4-star LB

Heading back to Louisiana we find linebacker Donte Sparks. The talented 4-star from John Ehret High Shcool (Marrero, LA) is one of the best interior linebackers in the nation for 2019.

Starks is up to 30 offers with interested schools such as LSU, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Georgia to name a few. LSU is the favorite here as of now.

I was unable to find any stats for him.

Sean Dollars, 4-star RB

This is going to sound like a broken record, but this is another player that I have no idea why he wasn’t offered sooner by the old staff.

Much like his friend and teammate, Jeremiah Criddell, he played at Rancho Cucamonga last year before transferring to Mater Dei. Dollars is the number one all-purpose back in the nation for 2019.

Dollars is a dynamic playmaker out of the backfield. He can catch the ball well and is a great runner. He has shown the ability to use his blockers to his advantage, busting big runs as a result. One thing that I noticed is he is fast, but it doesn’t look like he is running that fast. He just kind of pulls away from pursuers.

Dollars has received national attention, pulling in other offers such as Washington, Oregon, USC, Florida, and TCU to name a few.
