Arizona vs. USC injury reports

Nick Wilson is probable; Scottie Young Jr. is questionable

The No. 22 Arizona Wildcats will take on the No. 17 USC Trojans in Los Angeles this weekend with first place in the Pac-12 South on the line.

And they will likely do so with their full stable of running backs available, as UA running back Nick Wilson is listed as probable for Saturday’s game vs. the Trojans.

Here is Arizona’s full injury report in its entirety:

Probable: RB Nick Wilson (ankle), TE Trevor Wood (concussion)

Questionable: S Scottie Young Jr. (knee)

Doubtful: None

Out: DL Kurtis Brown (concussion)

Wilson hurt his ankle two weeks ago early in the first quarter against Cal and then missed last week’s game against Washington State.

Before those two games, Wilson had one of the best games of his career, rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns against UCLA.

J.J. Taylor fared well in Wilson’s absence last week, tallying his first 100-yard performance of the season, but having Wilson — arguably UA’s best running back — available only helps the Wildcats’ chances of winning at Coliseum.

Arizona will also likely be getting tight end Trevor Wood back against the Trojans, as he listed as probable. Wood missed last week’s game with a concussion. His replacement, Jamie Nunley, had a huge game, reeling in two passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Wood had been used at long snapper, too, though Arizona did not have much trouble with its snaps last week against WSU.

The Wildcats might also be getting freshman free safety Scottie Young Jr. back from a knee injury Saturday. Young has not played since the UCLA game a few weeks back when he exited early in first half.

Jarrius Wallace has started in Young’s place the last two weeks and has impressed head coach Rich Rodriguez, but Young was one of the top performing freshmen in all of college football before getting injured and would provide a much-needed boost to a UA defense that has struggled in recent weeks.

Here is USC’s injury report for Saturday’s game:

Probable: RB Stephen Carr (foot), OL Chuma Edoga (ankle), DL Josh Fatu (concussion), WR Steven Mitchell (shoulder)

Questionable: RB Vavae Malepeai (knee), CB Iman Marshall (knee),

Out: OLB Hunter Echols (hip), TE Josh Falo (foot), OLB Porter Gustin (toe), DL Christian Rector (hand), OT Nathan Smith (knee), RB James Toland IV (shoulder)

Kickoff in Los Angeles between Arizona (6-2, 4-1 Pac-12) and USC (7-2, 5-1 Pac-12) is set for 7:45 p.m. PT and the game will be televised on ESPN.
