Arizona guard Brandon Randolph (concussion) out vs. Chico State

Arizona is without another wing for Sunday’s exhibition

Arizona Wildcats guard Brandon Randolph will miss Sunday’s exhibition vs. Chico State due to a concussion, it was announced by the school shortly before tip off.

With Rawle Alkins (foot) and Dylan Smith (suspension) already out, Emmanuel Akot will likely start in Randolph’s place.

Randolph had 14 points on 5-12 shooting in 32 minutes in Arizona’s exhibition vs. Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday, though he shot 0-7 from 3.

It is unclear if the freshman will be available for Arizona’s season opener against NAU on Friday, Nov. 10.

The good news for Arizona is it is expected to get Parker Jackson-Cartwright back Sunday. The senior point guard missed Wednesday’s exhibition with a minor ankle sprain.

Still, the season hasn’t even started yet and the Wildcats are already seeing their depth being tested.

They won’t get Alkins back until December, but they will get Smith back for the second game of the season, and it seems doubtful that Randolph’s concussion will be a long-term ailment.

In the meantime, Akot will have plenty of opportunities to build on the success he had in the first exhibition.

Arizona’s exhibition vs. Chico State tips off at 4 p.m. MST and it will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks.
