Arizona Wildcats, Indiana Hoosiers planning multi-year series, per report

The battle of the Millers will reportedly begin in 2019-20

It’s Miller time.

The Arizona Wildcats and Indiana Hoosiers are finalizing a multi-year series that will pit Sean and Archie Miller against each other for three consecutive seasons starting in 2019, according to Jon Rothstein on FanRag Sports.

Rothstein reports the official dates and times are still being worked out, but the framework calls for Indiana to visit Tucson in 2019-20 and Arizona to play in Bloomington in 2020-21.

The final year of the series, Rothstein reports, will be held at Madison Square Garden during the 2021-22 season.

When Archie Miller, who was an assistant under Sean at Arizona from 2009-11, was hired by Indiana in March, he said a home-and-home series against Arizona “would be really cool,” but that it would have to be right for both sides.

Apparently, this agreement is.

Bringing in Indiana for a home game is certainly huge for Arizona, and not just because of the brother-against-brother storyline.

Other than a matchup with the Gonzaga Bulldogs in 2014-15, the Wildcats’ home non-conference schedule has been uninspiring in recent years, and adding a program of Indiana’s caliber to the schedule will undoubtedly help change that.

And seeing how much success Archie had with the Dayton Flyers, it’s hard to imagine the Hoosiers won’t be a premier team in the country when this series begins in Tucson in 2019.
