Arizona football recruiting SitRep: Wildcats land fourth 2018 commitment, visitors, offers, and more
It was an extremely busy week for the Wildcat coaching staff
With the spring evaluation period still underway, it has been a hectic week for the Arizona Wildcats with visitors, offers, and another commitment.
So, with that, let’s dive into this week’s SitRep.
D’Angelo McKenzie
McKenzie, a 3-star safety from Valley Christian High School in San Jose, Calif., has high interest in Arizona. He sent his tape to Chris Singletary and talked with the Wildcat staff on a regular basis. His persistence and patience paid off with an offer in mid-April.
McKenzie maintains great communication with the coaching staff and it is the staff that has caught his attention. He really admires Arizona’s coaches and is looking to visit in the near future. As of now he is looking at committing on 2018 National Signing Day. This is one recruitment to keep an eye on.
Jaden Mitchell
The 3-star wide receiver from Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas, Nev. gave Arizona his pledge on Friday afternoon. He stated that he feels he can make a huge impact for the program, and that he feels comfortable with the coaches, players, and school.
Mitchell visited twice in March; once at the beginning of the month, and once at the end for the spring scrimmage.
Recruiting Notes
- Gaelin Elmore (defensive lineman grad transfer from Minnesota) pushed back his commitment a week. He will announce this Friday and he is choosing between Arizona and East Carolina.
- Khalil Shakir, a 4-star wide receiver from Vista Murrieta High School in Murrieta, Calif., told Scout.com that Arizona is one of four schools standing out to him. The ‘Cats have already visited Shakir at his school. Arizona is going to keep making a push for the Southern California talent, who is someone to keep an eye out for in the future.
- Cam Goode, a 3-star defensive tackle from St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C., told Scout.com this week that Arizona is one of four schools he talks to the most. Goode admitted he doesn’t know much about Arizona or the Pac-12 but he is listening to what they have to say. It’s going to be a tough pull for the Wildcats and getting Goode on campus for a visit would really help.
- Kazmeir Allen, a 3-star running back from Tulare Union High School in Tulare, Calif, visited Tucson this weekend. This is one recruitment that feels like it’s on its way to another commitment for the Wildcats. Keep a close eye on Allen.
- The Wildcats held a mini junior day this weekend with recruits from the 2018, 2019, and 2020 classes making their way to Tucson.
